New Orleans 2010

These are some pictures from our trip to New Orleans last year. We got to do a lot of things when I wasn't in class for work. It was a good break and a nice vacation.

New Orleans

Well I wen to New Orleans a couple weeks back for work training. I had a real good time there. We stayed mostly to the city so I didn't see much of the damage that was caused by the Hurricane, but either way it was interesting. We stayed in a hotel right down town on Canal and Bourban so we got to hear a lot of loud music while there. The weekend before was Jazz Fest and so was the weekend we were leaving so a lot of people were there during the week and still having a blast. We were in training all day until 5pm most days so after that we were able to go sight seeing. Of course down town everything closed by 5pm or 6pm. So we had to save a lot of our sight seeing and shopping for the last day when we got out of training early. So we hit the flea market and all. While there I tried a lot of different foods...yes things that I have never had. The first night there I had a platter full of different fried foods, including fried crab, oysters, catfish, shrimp, craw fish tails, crab cake, and corn fitters. It was sooooo good, yes I even enjoyed the shrimp which I usually don't like at all. I also tried alligator and that was very tasty. There were a couple of things we were also told to try and they were good as well, Beignet's as well as Muffalta's both tasty. Well I of course can't go without showing some pictures. So enjoy.....
Me and Camille on the fairy crossing the Mississippi.
One of the cruise boats that goes out nightly for a dinner and cruise on the Mississippi(didn't do that one this time.)
Me, Ellen, and Camille with our balloon hats. Some random guy on Bourban stopped us and made these for us, of course afterwords he wanted money from us for making them...blah but they were fun so we couldn't resist.
Cathedral located by Jackson Square it was really beautiful`
Me and Camille with some Jazz man's statues at Cafe Beignet.
This was about the coolest thing ever, I had never seen Moslem's so it was really cool to check them out. Everyone in New Orleans is buried in these above ground because of the water levels that can come through. This is one of the most popular cemeteries in New Orleans. We took a trolley down to it and got some fabulous pictures.
